A flat high valley at 1,200 metres above sea level, to the south of the main ridge of the Alps. An ideal holiday location for hikers, walkers, mountaineers and nature lovers - whether at the summit of the Hohe Tauern at over 3,000 metres, hiking at a medium altitude or a placid walker on a discovery tour in the three valleys! If you are looking for adventure sports like canyoning, rafting, mountain biking or climbing you can find it here with us. Or you can simply relax in a comfortable lounger on our sunny terrace or on the lawn for sunbathing.


National park "Hohe Tauern"

Unspoilt nature, mountains and glaciers, spectacular waterfalls, rare plants and species from the animal world creating a paradise in the biggest national park in Middle Europe. At over 1,800 km² you will truly find a natural wonder world.

It is the habitat of 10,000 animals and rare plants, which have adapted perfectly to the rough climate at this altitude.
In this protected area we take care to have minimal human interference.

The Mallnitz National Visitor Center has all the information you need about the Hohe Tauern National Park. Let yourself be inspired and your visit to the alpine mountain world will be unforgettable!

In the completely redesigned exhibition "univerzoom nationalpark" numerous experience stations take curious people of all ages into the wonderful world of the Hohe Tauern.

The "rangerlabs" are research workshops where you can explore, experiment and try things out together with our national park rangers.

Elixir of life and habitat at the same time. What makes our water so valuable, how it can be used responsibly and what it means for the flora and fauna in the National Park is explored at numerous experiment stations.

What is climate and how does it develop? Why can a blanket of snow be warm and what does my snack have to do with the greenhouse effect? Small research tasks take you into a world full of exciting riddles about weather and climate.
